ABOUT THE ARTIST
​
Born in 1964 in Ellington, Ct, we moved to a farm in Hopewell, NJ when I was 4yrs old. The wide open spaces, barns, farm animals, gardens and crops that we lived with have greatly influenced my work as a painter. I like to take my paintings to a quieter place that reflect a more organic aesthetic, evoking a sense of peace.
My parents instilled in me an appreciation for ingenuity, creativity, and motivation. As a little girl I loved to design and make Barbie clothing and furniture. As a teenager I continued to sew and later on I would design and sew my wedding gown. Photography was my second love, and I always carried a camera around with me. I went on to earn a BFA with a concentration in photography in 1986, leading to a rewarding career in NYC as a Photo Editor.
In 2001 my husband John and I moved our family of 4 to Bucks County, PA. Influenced by both the early and contemporary Bucks County Impressionists I first picked up a paintbrush in 2008, and I haven’t been able to put it down since. Wanting to follow my own artistic voice I set about the task of teaching myself to paint.
My medium of choice is oil, and my tools are the painting knife and big brushes. My subjects often include landscapes, farms and still life, and are most often inspired by the colors and textures of my subjects. When I approach the creation of a new work, I am guided by an inner visceral response to the lyrical quality unfolding within the work.
My work has garnered local and international awards, including Artist of the Year Finalist for the Circle Foundation for the Arts, 1st & 3rd place in the American Art Awards, the Artist’s Magazine Juried Competitions & Gallery Ring Competitions, First Place in the Tinicum Art Show, and many others. I've been featured in the Bucks County Magazine, and Bucks County Home & Garden Magazine, published in the Illuminate edition of Apero, as well as having art in film, and notable invitational and solo exhibitions. This year I'm excited to be the invited to be the Featured Artist at the 2023 Tinicum Arts Festival. My work is currently represented by Canal Frame-Crafts Gallery in Washington Crossing, PA, and The Upstairs Gallery.
